See You In Frankfurt!

In the morning, today, about 50 activists from social centres of Emilia Romagna, have closed the entrance of Deutsche Bank’s base in Bologna. The aim was to raise attention on the days of action in Frankfurt and to claim the right to demonstrate on the streets of Frankfurt in those days. Indeed, the Frankfurt city government (namely the Public Safety
Department) has forbidden every demonstration for security reasons.
In many others Italian cities, as well as in Germany, there will be a series of mobilizations, actions and protests against this prohibition, to avoid that it might be actually enforced. This morning, in Bologna, the Bank’s entrance has been symbolically closed with adhesive tape and a banner that claimed “freedom of movement against banks dictature”, signed by R.I.S.E.UP, a collective name that unite networks, movements, social centres, and a number of different subjects that are mobilizing in these days in Italy towards the transnational action days in Frankfurt against austerity and CEB.
The police officers, quite numerous and dressed with anti-riot equipment, have been invited to quit the scene by the protesters, while several speeches were given in solidarity to comrades that in Naples, exactly in the same hours, were facing police brutality for having organized a sit-in in front of Equitalia (a private agency which in
Italy cash the unpaid bills).
After about 2 hours, the activists left shouting “see you in Frankfurt”.
